As an administrator of the Perverted Justice Foundation, I've often been asked questions regarding the statues of limitation for prosecuting a sexual abuser in a given state. Since it appears there is no current online resource that gathers all the relevant information in one place, I decided, with the help of friends and several perverted-justice volunteers, to create such a resource. We spent months combing legal documents and statutes to ensure that the information posted would be as accurate and current as possible. We made hundreds of phone calls to check that recommended organizations are legitimate and phone numbers are correct. Essentially, this site is meant to provide accurate and relevant information and resources to anyone in an abusive situation now, anyone who has been in an abusive situation in the past, or those trying to help someone in an abusive situation.
This site is currently organized by the different states and territories of the United States of America. Locations outside these areas will be added as they are completed. Within each state or territory, there are three sections: rape/molestation statutes of limitation, pro bono and reduced fee legal services, and restraining order and order of protection information. The first section, rape/molestation statutes of limitation, contains the statutes of limitation for these crimes in that state and also will eventually include a "plain English" explanation of the ramifications of the law. The second section, pro bono and reduced fee legal services, breaks the state down into counties or cities and gives contact information for groups that will either represent abuse victims for free or at a reduced cost. The third section, restraining order and order of protection information, not only outlines who can apply for a restraining order and what the restraining order can include, but also lists costs, benefits, and the penalty for violation of the order.
If you reside in another country, please feel free to contact us for information about laws and statutes concerning sexual abuse in your country--we may already have the information on file. There is also a mailing list you can sign up for if you wish to be notified whenever this website adds other countries to its database.
As a note, please be aware that whenever you visit a website, that site's address (in this case, www.resourceforarecourse.com) will most likely be saved in your internet history. If you are currently in an abusive situation, you may wish to remove this address from your internet history; for a step-by-step walkthrough of how to do this, please go HERE.

Much thanks to Perverted Justice Founation volunteers Malibu Breeze, Snocap, Van de Camp, and Wendy for helping me with the extensive research, fact-checking, and editing that went into creating this site and to Audrey, a talented friend of mine, for designing and maintaining the website.
